Harald speaks fluent German and heads DAC Beachcroft's German Desk dealing with instructions with a German language element, including:• advising internationally operating German, Austrian and Swiss businesses;• providing UK firms working abroad with a fully fluent German speaking contact lawyer; and • guiding clients through all aspects of commercial dealings abroad. Harald also deals with commercial disputes with particular expertise in contractual and tortious claims including misrepresentation, unlawful interference with contract and other economic torts, and professional negligence. Experience includes claims relating to/involving:• IT disputes; • intellectual property disputes (including software licensing); • shareholder/partnership disputes; • interlocutory injunctions; • defamation; and • product liability. Highlights included representing the Right Honourable Charles Clarke in claims against Mirror Group Newspapers arising from the unlawful obtaining and misuse of private and confidential information, and representing DHL Management Services in relation to a series of anti-suit injunctions. Irlam Wharf Properties, Make Positive, RSA and Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust are also clients. Department head Jan Levinson¬†handles IT and outsourcing disputes as well as property claims and corporate matters, often with a cross-border element. Harald Loeffler¬†is a known name for his work in the defence of complex IT, IP and contractual disputes on behalf of insurers. The group is frequently instructed on the most complex, multi-party, high-profile and high-value claims especially against solicitors, insurance brokers and design and construct contractors. DAC Beachcroft LLP's well-regarded team is headed by Deborah Hely  and includes Sean Doherty,  who divides his time between Leeds and Manchester and is recommended for his work on clinical negligence work. The team has been advising on a number of highly sensitive litigation matters involving doctors’ clinical performance concerns and disciplinary related employment tribunal claims. Harald Loeffler  has also been acting in a variety of commercial disputes for health clients. Highlights included acting for the Countess of Chester NHS FT in connection with employment and employee relations issues relating to a police investigation into an unusually high rate of baby deaths and collapses at the Countess of Chester hospital. Other active clients include NHS Resolution, The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (Greater Manchester) as well as Cheshire & Wirrall Partnerships NHS Foundation Trust.

DAC Beachcroft LLP is active across contentious construction, insurance claims, contracts and leases, procurement and transactional work. On the contentious side, the team is representing The Co-operative Group on disputes with Johnson Construction on 12 sites across the UK, is acting for McLaren Construction on a final account and payment dispute with a leading developer and is acting for CPD Powerline on claims for payment for power gird work on multiple sites in Northern Ireland. Non-contentious highlights include advising Cheshire West and Chester District Council on major construction and property retail development works with a developer and retailer in Cheshire and advising The Co-operative Group on the transfer of lease and contract documentation relating to a distribution warehouse at Rugby Valley Park. Consultant Phillip Fry heads the team and specialises in construction disputes and regional senior partner Ian McConkey handles professional indemnity claims on behalf of construction professionals. Harald Loeffler and senior associate Claire Randall-Smith are also key members of the team.
