Position
Simon has extensive experience of acting for main contractors, specialist sub contractors, developers and construction professionals in complex, high value construction disputes both domestic and international. For the last seven years Simon has focused on acting for construction professionals and their professional indemnity insurers dealing with disputes in litigation (including the Court of Appeal), arbitration and adjudication. Simon is a proponent of ADR and has significant experience of mediation, expert determination and early neutral evaluation. His experience includes: defending proposed Part 20 Defendant in a technically complicated geotechnical dispute concerning tunnel bore operations. Succeeded in opposing the application to join and recovered costs from the unsuccessful Part 20 claimant [instructed by London market insurer]; successful recovery of significant sums from main contractor and sub contractor following an explosion at a private school caused by those contractors [instructed by London market insurer]; subrogated recovery in a high vale multi-party action following a fire at a mixed used development [instructed by a composite insurer]; advising insurers on policy coverage issues arising under professional indemnity, public liability, property damage and CAR policies; a number of mediations resulting in successful resolution; various adjudications for architects, engineers and surveyors defending claims or seeking fee recoveries.

Simon regularly presents lectures and seminars to clients and others. His most recent was a talk given to the ICE in March 2008 on the NEC Family of Contracts.
