Career

I am a solicitor specialising in Mental Health and Criminal Law. I hold specialist accreditation with the Law Society’s Criminal Litigation Scheme and Mental Health Accreditation Scheme.

I represent clients detained at the police station free of charge as well as those summonsed or charged to appear at the Magistrates Court. I have experience in advising and representing both youths and adults accused of a range of offences from the most minor road traffic offences to the most serious sexual offences, murder and violent offences. Whether at first appearance, trial or sentencing, I always strive to achieve the best possible outcome for my clients.

I offer advice and representation to Patients detained under the Mental Health Act or who are subject to Community Treatment Orders. I have a great deal of experience in advising and representing patients at:

  • Mental Health Tribunals
  • Hospital Managers Hearings
  • Review Meetings
  • Care Programme Approach Meetings

and always ensure that my clients’ cases are progressed in the best possible way.

In addition, I also advise the Nearest Relatives of detained patients as to their rights under the Mental Health Act and have acted for the relatives of patients who are the subject of proceedings to remove or “displace” them as a patient’s Nearest Relative.

I also have experience in appearing for clients at Coroner’s Inquests. I have acted in cases where deaths have occurred in road accidents through to deaths which have occurred in prison. I can advise and represent clients at Inquest hearings as well as throughout the pre-inquest stages.

Recently, I have successfully represented alcohol and tobacco license holders facing proceedings to remove their licenses. I can advise you as to the options available to the Local Council as well as representing you at Hearings.

I have a sympathetic approach and will listen carefully to what you want to achieve and fight for you. I will always offer measured, honest advice, explained in the most straightforward way possible.

Clients who come to see me are often going through a stressful time in their life and I believe that clear understandable advice is paramount.
