What we say about the firm's legal practice in Luxembourg
Banking and finance
Within Banking and finance, Allen & Overy LLP is a first tier firm,
Global banking and finance giant, Allen & Overy Luxembourg is ‘highly professional’, ‘fast’ and ‘accurate’. The firm has done ‘extremely well on structuring highly complex deals’. During 2009 and 2010, the firm continued to work on a series of major restructurings, including representing JPMorgan on the restructuring of the Wind Hellas group. Securitisation is another key part of the practice, most notably for Frank Mausen. Luxembourg managing partner Henri Wagner provides a ‘high-level service’, particularly in the capital markets environment, while André Marc and Pierre Schleimer are also recommended.
Corporate and M&A
Within Corporate and M&A, Allen & Overy LLP is a first tier firm,
Allen & Overy Luxembourg is ‘accessible’ and ‘responsive’, provides ‘an excellent level of service’ and delivers ‘fast’ and ‘reliable’ advice. Senior partner Marc Feider (‘deep transaction, tax and financing experience’) is a pre-eminent figure in Luxembourg. Fabian Beullekens is also recommended.
Dispute resolution
Within Dispute resolution, Allen & Overy LLP is a second tier firm,
Allen & Overy Luxembourg is commended for being a ‘business-oriented firm’, which delivers ‘accurate advice’ from ‘very reactive and available lawyers’. Donata Grasso (‘great attorney’, ‘very professional in a trial’) and Vincent Naveaux (‘client focused’) were promoted to counsel in 2010. Much of the department’s recent workload has stemmed from the financial crisis, although it is demonstrating its expertise in the broader disputes environment.
Employment
Within Employment, Allen & Overy LLP is a first tier firm,
Allen & Overy Luxembourg is a clear leader in collective dismissals and social plans, most notably in the financial services sector. Much credit goes to André Marc (‘extremely dedicated’, ‘always available’, ‘very proactive’), though the departure of counsel Christian Jungers to Kleyr | Grasso | Associes is regarded as a significant blow. Nevertheless, clients commend the team’s ‘experience’, ‘business acumen’ and ‘industry knowledge’.
IP and IT
Within IP and IT, Allen & Overy LLP is a first tier firm,
Allen & Overy Luxembourg has an eminent reputation for contentious IP, most notably patent litigation, as well as outsourcing and data protection. IP specialist Katia Manhaeve was elevated to partner in May 2010, and is particularly active in the R&D and life sciences sectors, as well as unfair competition. Recent highlights include representing an international fashion group on the transfer and restructuring of its IP portfolio. Counsel Cyril Pierre-Beausse provides considerable experience in IT (including outsourcing), data protection and related regulatory matters (particularly in the financial sector).
