Simon Norris is a partner in Trinity International LLP and has a wide range of experience in the power, infrastructure, transport, mining, industrial, oil & gas and telecommunications sectors in various jurisdictions but with a real focus on emerging markets, particularly in Africa.


Although Simon’s experience is wide-ranging, Simon spends most of his time advising lenders and borrowers on project, trade, corporate and leveraged finance transactions. Simon has advised commercial banks including Standard Bank, Standard Chartered, Absa/Barclays, Nedbank and Rand Merchant Bank and DFIs such as African Development Bank, Africa Finance Corporation, EIB, KfW, DEG, FMO and Proparco.


Recent transactions include: representing lenders to a gas IPP (Rwanda); lenders to a gas IPP (Mozambique); sponsors of a 550MW gas IPP and six solar IPPs (Nigeria); sponsors of Mocuba solar IPP (Mozambique); sponsors of the Bangweulu solar IPP (Zambia); sponsors of a bio-energy project (Uganda); and a fund acquiring a renewables portfolio (Namibia, Kenya and Nigeria).
