Xavier Castro Muñoz is a partner at Consulegis Abogados.

Career

Xavier Castro Muñoz is principally involved in the advice of complex litigation and arbitration procedures, particularly in constitutional, criminal and commercial fields, arbitration, telecommunications and freedom of press. He has advised in major controversies and has experience in media handling for cases with public connotation. 

Xavier is an active dispute resolution partner in Consulegis Abogados. Among his career highlights, we can point out that he has been the main advisor to the president of the Supreme Court of Justice in Ecuador, Vice-president of the Chamber, Chairman of the Arbitration Committee and Arbitrator at the Guayaquil Chamber of Commerce and member of the National Council for Telecommunications. Xavier was also the first Ecuadorian to be granted a Chevening Fellowship by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office for studies in Tackling International Organised Crime at the Leadership Academy for Policing, Centrex, Bramshill House.

Education

Xavier Castro Muñoz received his law degree by the Universidad Católica de Santiago de Guayaquil. He also received a Masters of Law on International Commercial Litigation and Comparative Law by the University of Cambridge, Peterhouse College (United Kingdom, 1997). He has also completed the Telecommunications Law and Policy course at the Andean University Simon Bolívar and University Externado of Colombia (Ecuador, 2005). Finally, he completed a Chevening Fellowship awarded by the Foreign and Commonwealth for studies in Tackling International Organised Crime at the Leadership Academy for Policing, Centrex (Bramshill, United Kingdom 2007).
