MOUHAMED KEBE APPOINTED AS A MEMBER OF THE ICC’S INTERNATIONAL COURT OF ARBITRATION

The International Chamber of Commerce’s (ICC’s) International Court of Arbitration is recognised as one of the world’s leading arbitration institutions.  It administers arbitrations from 3 locations (Paris, Hong Kong and New York) through a Secretariat working in 28 languages.  Court Members are experienced arbitration practitioners drawn from over 100 countries.

The Court has appointed Mouhamed Kebe, Managing Partner of sub-Saharan law firm GENI & KEBE, as a new Member of the Court from 1 July 2017.

Mr Kebe holds a Certificate in Commercial and Investment International Arbitration from the University of London and is a chartered arbitrator before the Arbitration Court of the OHADA States.

“Strong arbitration institutions are an important factor in encouraging commercial confidence,” explains Mr Kebe.  “It is an honour to be appointed to the ICC’s International Court of Arbitration and I look forward to providing high quality and efficient service to the Court’s users.”

Mr Kebe is one of 41 new appointed members from 38 countries.  The Court’s President, Mr Alexis Mourre, notes ““The diversity of new Court members underscores our commitment to ensure the Court draws on the full range of expertise and experience found in our global network.”

GENI & KEBE ADVISES EXIMBANK CHINA’S USD 34 MILLION LOAN TO SENEGAL

In a move to better equip Senegal’s National Fire Brigade, China has loaned Senegal 20 billion CFA (approximately USD 34 million) through the China Export-Import Bank.  GENI & KEBE acted as local counsel for the transaction.

TFM INTERVIEWS GENI & KEBE PARTNER ABOUT OFF SHORE GAS DISCOVERY IN WEST AFRICA

Managing Partner of GENI & KEBE, Mouhamed Kebe, was interviewed by Ms Faty Dieng on TFM’s Journal program on 6 February 2016 regarding the legal consequences of the recent offshore gas discovery along the Senegalese and Mauritanian coastline.

The interview was given in local language Wolof, making the information accessible to as large a group of Senegalese viewers as possible.

Mr Kebe advises Kosmos Energy and Cairn Energy, pioneering exploration companies along this section of the West Coast of Africa. He gave an overview of the process of oil and gas exploration and the opportunities for governments to negotiate not only for equity in production, but also for taxes and royalties arising from the finds.
