Fielding an eight-strong team, Urenda, Rencoret, Orrego y Dörr  regularly assists with debt and equity transactions and offerings, securities, derivatives and structured finance, and securitization and regulatory matters; the practice is also particularly active in mining and energy project-finance. A broad client base includes BHP, Yamana Gold, Murugappa Group, Viña Veramonte and real estate developers Punta Piqueros and Mall Viña del Mar; as well as lenders International Finance Corporation (IFC), Bancolombia, The Bank of New York Mellon, Banco BICE and GE Capital Industrial Finance. Recent highlights saw practice head Nicholas Mocarquer lead advice to BHP and Minera Escondida on facility agreements (aggregate value $517m) with Banco Estado, BBVA and Banco Santander. Fellow practice head Rodrigo de Alencar , advised state-owned Chilean aeronautical company ENAER and Banco Bice regarding a $40m bond issuance. Sergio Orrego and Felipe Rencoret are also key partners in the practice, while experienced senior associate Raúl Gómez is also highly regarded.

Fielding a six-strong team, Urenda, Rencoret, Orrego y Dörr has longstanding experience in merger control matters, FNE investigations and the design and implementation of compliance programmes, as well as on international unfair competition matters such as anti-dumping and safeguard cases. Recent work highlights include assisting Soquimich with the competition law aspects of Chinese company Tianqi Lithium's $4bn-plus acquisition of Nutrien's 23.77% holding in the company. The practice is led by Gonzalo Rencoret and Nicholas Mocarquer, with key support provided by experienced senior associates Bernardita Schmidt and Raúl Gómez. Clients include Dow, Ferrero Group, Gerdau, ADM, Eli Lilly, Sony and BHP.

Urenda, Rencoret, Orrego y Dörr is well-known for advising on M&A transactions, shareholder agreements, joint ventures and corporate restructuring, as well as handling compliance matters such as internal corporate policies and reviews. The sizeable practice group -27-strong, including 12 partners- advises clients such as Lafarge Holcim, Minera Escondida, Sony, Eli Lilly and Invercap. Recent highlights include assisting Soquimich (SQM) on the $4.06bn acquisition by Tianqi Lithium Corp of the 23.77 per cent stake in SQM held by Canada's Nutrien. Other matters included acting for Gerdau on the $154m sale of its Chilean operations; DuPont on the Chilean aspects of its $130bn global merger with Dow Chemical; and BHP on the divestment of its Cerro Colorado mining operation. Experienced figures Gonzalo Rencoret, Nicholas Mocarquer, Sergio Orrego and Rodrigo de Alencar. co-head the practice; younger partner Felipe Rencoret is an additional name to note. Strong support comes from senior associates Rafael Rencoret, Raul Gómez  and Bernardita Schmidt.

Environment

Urenda, Rencoret, Orrego y Dörr's six-strong practice includes complex environmental due diligence, permit-related environmental risks, and compliance with environmental regulations; typical work includes assistance with waste management issues, emissions, air quality issues and water law. In recent matters, the team advised Inmobiliaria Punta Piqueros on the environmental law aspects of the construction of a luxury hotel; Enel Generación regarding the administration and regularisation of water rights in the Laja watershed (where Enel has three hydroelectric power plants: Abanico, El Toro and Antuco); and advising Dow Química Chilean on registration and compliance with new waste-management regulations. Practice head Ignacio Urrutia receives additional partner-level support from Sergio Orrego  and Nicholas Mocarquer . Associate Katia Spoerer  is also noted.
