Nicolás Luco concentrates in civil and commercial Litigation and Arbitration, national and international. He has also ample experience in energy arbitration and litigation, before courts and other adjudicating bodies. He teaches Civil Procedure Law in the Catholic University of Chile and is currently Head of its Procedure Law Department. He has taught at other universities and constantly teaches at the Judicial Academy, where future judges are educated and current ones undertake advanced courses. He is one of the 19 members of the Board of the Chilean Bar Association. Mr. Luco has been consistently ranked in the top tiers in Dispute Resolution in Chambers and Partners. He joined Claro & Cia. in 1995, spent years 2000-2001 in Shearman & Sterling, New York, and became a partner of Claro & Cia. in 2005.

Claro & Cia. is widely respected for its handling of civil and commercial law disputes, as well as domestic and international arbitration. Other areas of strength include labour, tax and administrative litigation and the team also features lawyers with experience in white-collar crime matters. The team led advice to AES Gener on several arbitrations and court cases against Chilean energy group CGE, regarding the amendment of power purchase agreements (PPAs) pursuant to regulatory changes; and also assisted Chilean commercial bank Corpbanca with fines imposed by the local regulator (SBIF) for alleged violation of individual credit limits. Other matters include defending major poultry producer AGROSUPER in class action litigation brought by the national consumer agency, SERNAC on grounds of alleged cartel activity; and on the arbitral front, representing Publicis in $70m proceedings against its former commercial partner.
