Harneys continues expansion of Hong Kong team

Harneys is pleased to announce the continuing expansion of our legal team in Hong Kong.

Among the new joiners are litigation counsel James Noble and banking and finance associate Vanisha Harjani. The firm now fields 14 principal fee earners and 3 paralegals in Hong Kong covering all key BVI and Cayman Islands transactional, restructuring and litigation practice areas.

Prior to moving to Hong Kong in July, James Noble practised for nearly two years as a member of the firm’s litigation and insolvency group in the Cayman Islands and the British Virgin Islands. James specialises in shareholder litigation and hedge fund disputes but also has a broad range of experience in financial services litigation and insolvency. Beginning his career with Clayton Utz in Australia James subsequently worked as a senior associate in the London and Sydney offices of Norton Rose for seven years before moving offshore.

Vanisha Harjani joined Harneys in August. A specialist in banking and finance transactions including unsecured and secured lending, asset and acquisition finance and structured finance, Vanish practises both BVI and Cayman law. She joined Harneys from Ogier Hong Kong where she worked for five years. Vanisha speaks English, Hindi and Sindhi.

BVI Law Holds Even Keel Between Rights of Investors and Rights of Mutual Funds

Fund investors and the fund industry globally should take note of the recent decision of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court Appellate Division’s (the “Court of Appeal”) in Madoff related litigation.
