Marcos Ludwig advises Brazilian and foreign clients in corporate, contractual, regulatory and corporate governance matters in various sectors and industries. He is the head of the firm's Government & Regulatory practice.

Marcos offers to the client a special approach due to his business experience as co-founder, general counsel and member of the board of directors of both publicly- and privately-held companies in Brazil, where he played a key role in the development, implementation and operation of large scale projects, in the definition of business and financial strategies and in the negotiation of capital raise transactions, mergers, joint ventures and other complex transactions. For his activity on the corporate side, Marcos was recognized as one of the “most influential and innovative in-house counsel working in the region” (GC Powerlist: Latin America – Legal 500, 2014).

At Veirano, among other relevant mandates, he acted in one of the largest transactions concluded recently in Brazil, recognized as The American Lawyer's 'M&A Deal of the Year: Latin America 2017' and as Latin Lawyer's 'PE Deal of the Year: 2018'. Clients praise his 'valuable experience' and 'excellent capacity in forming and leading competent teams on any legal issue'.

Marcos has also experience as party-appointed arbitrator in procedures administered by leading arbitral institutions in Brazil. He is listed in the panel of arbitrators of the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) and of the Shanghai International Arbitration Center (SHIAC), among other institutions.

Between 2006 and 2007, he worked as visiting lawyer in the international law firm of LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae LLP in New York, U.S.A.

He was a professor and guest lecturer in law schools and graduate programs in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Porto Alegre with focus on civil law, legal theory and legal hermeneutics, with publications in Brazil and abroad.

Currently Marcos acts as Co-chair of the Committee of Commercial Law and Practice of the Brazilian national committee of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC Brazil)
