Ana Carolina Barretto specializes in the areas of project finance and infrastructure development with significant expertise in the infrastructure and natural resources industries. Ms. Barretto advises clients on some of the most prominent and high-value infrastructure and project finance deals in Brazil.

Ms. Barretto represents sponsors, lenders, EPC contractors and equipment suppliers with their acquisition, development and financing of construction and infrastructure projects.

She is widely recognized by international publications such as Chambers Global and Latin America, The Legal 500, IFLR 1000, LatinLawyer 250, Euromoney Expert Guides and Who’s Who: Legal as a leading lawyer for project development and finance, energy and construction law.

Ms. Barretto served as Chair of the Power Law Committee of the International Bar Association from 2014 to 2016.

Veirano Advogados has particular expertise in project finance, with São Paulo based Ana Carolina Barretto regularly handling multibillion-dollar projects. In other work, she and Lior Pinsky advised development finance institution DEG on entering into a loan agreement with Waelzholz Brasmetal Laminação. Rio de Janeiro based practice head Marcelo Mattos, who provides ‘excellent and timely advice’, is experienced in cross-border matters and recently advised JPMorgan Chase, as administrative agent, on the amendment and restatement of a revolving credit agreement provided to companies in the Alcoa group. Rogério Campos made partner in January 2018.

Veirano Advogados is recommended for its work on transactional and financial matters, and also in regulatory litigation. It advised Statoil on its investment in a 162MW solar project which aims to provide around 160,000 households with electricity. The team also advised development banks CAF and DIE on the debt financing of a two-stage 84MW hydroelectric power plant and a 63km transmission line in Peru. Ana Carolina Barretto and Tiago Figueiró are recommended.
