Jeffrey S. Tenen is a Shareholder in Greenberg Traurig's Miami office. His primary areas of practice are aircraft finance and leasing, cross-border structured lending and asset-based financing transactions, aviation, and international business and commercial transactions. He represents air carriers, leasing companies and lenders on such matters as aircraft acquisitions, sales, leasing and financings (including export  credit, capital  markets, structured  financings, mortgage and cross-border leveraged lease financing transactions), spare parts and engine financings, aircraft operating lease transactions, PDP financings, international development bank facilities, receivables and aircraft securitizations, fuel and currency hedging, codeshare and interline agreements, cargo handling agreements, computer reservation systems and similar agreements, commodity and service procurement agreements, airline mergers and acquisitions, regulatory matters before the Federal Aviation Administration and related corporate and commercial matters affecting airlines and leasing companies.


Jeffrey is a Shareholder in Greenberg Traurig's Miami office. He currently serves as the Chair of the firm’s Global Aircraft & Equipment Finance and Leasing Practice, where he leads the growth of the Practice. Jeffrey was previously at Greenberg Traurig for nearly 20 years and has experience handling global transactions for the financing and leasing of both aircraft and other equipment. Prior to rejoining the firm, Jeffrey was a Partner at the Miami office of Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP. He is licensed to practice in Florida, New York and Maryland.


Jeffrey is fluent in English, French and Spanish. He is also conversational in Portuguese.


Jeffrey is a member of the American Bar Association.


Jeffrey received his B.A., cum laude, from Tufts University in 1982. In addition, he received his J.D. from The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law in 1986.

Greenberg Traurig LLP’s large and dedicated Latin America practice has achieved a high degree of market penetration in the banking and finance segment. It has built an especially strong record in Mexico, where it has a substantial and established Mexico City office, and across Central America. South American jurisdictions such as Argentina, Colombia and Chile are also fruitful markets for the firm. Clients include Aeropuertos Argentina 2000, CervecerĂ­a Costa Rica, MRO, Cap Cana Steering Committee, Oppenheimer & Co, Avianca Holdings and Hencorp Becstone Capital. Recent work has seen the team advise MesoAmerica Latam Opportunites Fund on its $120m revolving credit facility with Scotiabank; and also represent the Mexico-based producer of building materials for the construction industry, Elementia, on a $125m unsecured term loan provided by Scotiabank. In another notable deal, it advised leading Mexican paper producer, Grupo Bio Pappel, on a $450m secured syndicated credit facility. Firm vice-chair Patricia MenĂ©ndez-CambĂł founded the Latin America practice and is noted for her acquisition and project finance activity in the region. Randy Bullard is another pivotal member of the team; he has deep experience in jurisdictions including Peru, Chile, Colombia, El Salvador, Costa Rica and Honduras. Emilio Alvarez-FarrĂ© covers both corporate transactions and financings in Latin America and has more than 25-years’ experience in the region. New York partner Ross Kaufman is recommended for syndicated loans, securitisation and asset-backed finance transactions in Brazil; and Jeffrey Tenen, chair of the global aircraft and equipment finance practice, has a strong focus on Latin America where he represents international airlines in Chile, Panama, Mexico, Colombia and various Central American jurisdictions.
