Robert J. Ivanhoe is Chair of the 300+ lawyer Global Real Estate Practice and Co-Chair of the REIT Practice at Greenberg Traurig. He concentrates his practice in sophisticated real estate structures, financings, workouts, restructurings, acquisitions and dispositions of all asset classes of real estate. Robert is actively involved in real estate industry current affairs and is regularly asked to write and lecture on industry topics. Robert is a member of the firm's Executive Committee, Board of Directors and Operating Committee.

The firm handles domestic and inbound investment matters along with all aspects of real estate law, with key areas of focus including acquisitions and disposals, joint ventures and capital markets transactions. The group also has significant environmental assessment capabilities and regularly advises on projects in the residential, hospitality and affordable housing sectors. In the New York office, key partners Robert Ivanhoe, Kristen Lonergan and Farah Ahmed represented RFR Holding and Kushner Companies in their $600m buyout of four properties in Dumbo Heights, Brooklyn from Invesco. Los Angeles-based Gregory Fishman and others recently advised Kayne Anderson Real Estate Investors on the real estate aspects of a merger agreement with Sentio Healthcare Properties. The firm also maintains a strong financing practice; notable examples include representing Golub & Company in a $206m construction loan for the development of Flager Drive, Palm Beach County, and acting for Extell Development regarding a $460m financing provided by RXR Realty for three development projects in New York City. Nancy Lash and Richard Giusto are the main practitioners in Miami, where they advise on all aspects of commercial real estate. Corey Light jointly chairs the practice in Chicago.

Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s ‘extremely deep’ team scores high marks for its ‘very strong industry knowledge and service levels’ under the leadership of New York-based practice lead Judith Fryer. Among Fryer’s recent work, she advised public non-traded REIT, NorthStar Real Estate Income II, on its combination with NorthStar Real Estate Income Trust and a select portfolio of Colony NorthStar’s assets and liabilities to create a REIT with approximately $5.5bn in assets. Fryer assisted Industrial Property Trust with its $1.7bn IPO. Other highlights include New York’s Joseph Herz advice to Rodin Global Property Trust on its $1.2bn offering. Real estate chair Robert Ivanhoe, who also operates from New York, is another key figure in the group. Since publication, Alice Connaughton has moved to Morrison & Foerster LLP.
