Position

Niklas Conrad is a partner in the litigation group. His practice ranges from strategic litigation advice and extrajudicial dispute resolution to rights enforcement and the representation of clients in court. Niklas assists national and international clients from all sectors and industries in the resolution of commercial disputes, including post M&A conflicts. He regularly advises clients in cross-border disputes and assists in the enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitral awards.

Niklas has a particularly broad experience in the media and technology sectors, where he advises and represents national and international clients extensively on disputes over questions of general contract law, copyright law, eCommerce, (IT) outsourcing, IP compliance, internet liability, insolvency law, and the licensing and distribution of software and media content. He frequently litigates for clients from the real estate sector in contractual disputes, including joint venture disputes, disputes regarding project developments and post M&A disputes. In addition, Niklas regularly represents industrial clients in complex commercial disputes, such as warranty claims, agency and distribution contracts.

Greenberg Traurig Germany stands out for regularly advising large real estate companies on business models in the telecoms area. Practice head Christoph Enaux assisted degewo netzWerk with pubic tenders for broadband and multimedia provision and advised Gesobau on the development of new concepts for FTTH (fibre to the home) provision for portfolios of new buildings, among other matters. Another core focus is project advice, where the firm has telecoms, media and antitrust experience. A highlight in the cable network space was acting for Vonovia on contracts with several cable network operators, particularly cable license agreements and the integration of new property portfolios. In January 2018, Niklas Conrad, who focuses on litigation, was promoted to the partnership and Carsten Kociok, who is a key name for regulatory matters, was made counsel.

The team advises on matters relating to film, music and broadcasting law, regulatory issues and copyright. The team frequently coordinates cross-border matters with a European dimension, where it works with its international network. It is also increasingly active advising in the digital media segement and on data protection; Viola Bensinger is the key contact. Practice head Stefan Lütje recently assisted Ehrlich Entertainment with music, competition, broadcasting, personality right and copyright matters and in negotiations with RTL and production service providers. The client portfolio also includes CBS, HBO and NBC Universal. Carsten Kociok, who was promoted to counsel in February 2018, advises on IT and data protection matters and Niklas Conrad, who was promoted to partner in January 2018, regularly handles contentious media matters.
