Newby’s practice is focused on private and public companies from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies, venture capital firms, and other private and public equity investors. Newby assists companies and investors in private financing transactions, private and public securities offerings, mergers and acquisitions, management buy-outs, debt financing, joint ventures and strategic alliances, and other business transactional matters. Newby advises companies on organization, capital structure, stock incentives, board meetings and governance of corporations, partnerships and other business entities, litigation risk management and securities law compliance, and disclosure. Newby is the Managing Partner of V&E’s Austin office.

Vinson & Elkins LLP assists technology and licensing clients with M&A deals, public offerings, private equity and venture capital financings, and the licensing and distribution of technology, pharmaceutical and other life sciences products and devices. The team acted for SailPoint Technologies Holdings, a provider of enterprise identity governance solutions, in its $240m IPO; and advised MoneyGram International on its $1.2bn sale to an affiliate of Hong Kong-based Ant Financial. Paul Tobias, Wesley Watts and Milam Newby are highly regarded practitioners; and Andy Smetana joined as counsel from a technology start-up. All named attorneys are based in the Austin office.
