Nicola is a principal associate in our antitrust and EU law group with over 10 years experience. She has a broad based practice, covering merger control, investigations and behavioural work, and is recognised as a "rising star" and "bright and hardworking" in the 2011 Legal 500. 
Examples of Nicola's merger control work include: securing clearance with minimal divestments for Adsteam UK Limited following a Competition Commission investigation of the AUS$700m recommended public offer for Adsteam by Svitzerwijsmuller; advising Dairy Crest on the disposal of their stilton cheese business to Long Clawson Dairy; advising Tulip UK on their acquisition of Geo. Adams; and advising Experian on their acquisition of 

She has significant expertise in dominant firm trading and pricing practices and her experience includes securing the first ever settlement agreement in a UK abuse of dominance investigation.  She has previously advised a major pharmaceutical company on a long running abuse of dominance investigation which resulted in the closure of the case with no finding against the client and acted on an abuse investigation in the water sector.
Her cartels practice includes advising a major detergents manufacturer on the European Commission cartel investigation into household detergents, which ended with no finding of infringement against the client.

Nicola spent a year on secondment to Volkswagen Group (UK) Limited and four months on secondment to the competition department of the Financial Conduct Authority.  Whilst at the FCA she worked on the launch of the first FCA competition market study and preparations for concurrency.

She is a regular speaker at the C&I in house lawyer competition law update conferences and has delivered highly regarded competition compliance training programmes to clients in diverse sectors, including chemicals, pharmaceuticals and food.

    In recent years, the country ́s the government has been committed to improving Taxation in Nicaragua and attempting to follow the legislative model used by some of the other countries in the region. Starting January 1st, 2013, a new tax law (Law No. 822, Tax Concertation Law) came into force in and completely changed the taxation system in Nicaragua. Two years later a new law was issued by the National Assembly containing more than 80 amendments, additions and repeals (Law No 891) which came into force December 18th, 2014.
