James Lindop is a Partner in the Competition, EU and Regulatory Group.


James advises on a wide range of competition law matters including cartel investigations, merger control and the application of competition law to commercial agreements.

James' practice also includes advising on all aspects of EU/UK export control law and sanctions programmes. In addition, James has general commercial experience in advising on and drafting contracts for the supply of goods and services, and standard terms and conditions. James has worked with clients operating in many different industry sectors but has specific expertise in aerospace and defence.

The team at Eversheds Sutherland (International) LLP regularly advises a variety of clients on customs duties, valuation, anti-dumping and countervailing duties. The group handles both contentious and non-contentious customs and excise issues, and has extensive UK court experience. In light of the Brexit process, and drawing on the firm’s international presence and expertise it is now often called upon to advise on strategies to deal with its potential implications. The group is co-led by James Lindop, who sits in the Competition, EU and Trade practice; and tax specialist Giles Salmond, who is noted for his ability to ‘communicate with lawyers and business-folk with ease’. Competition associate Monika Zejden-Erdmann specialises in all aspects of EU and UK export controls and sanctions law.

Eversheds Sutherland (International) LLP has been assisting clients from a variety of sectors with understanding the implications of Brexit on their operations since 2015.Ros Kellaway and principal associate Annabel Borg lead the team, which works closely with practitioners in the firm's offices across the EU, including Brussels.
