Geraldine is a Partner in the Company Commercial department in Eversheds Abu Dhabi office, United Arab Emirates. 

Geraldine specialises in international commercial agreements and employment arrangements.  Geraldine has experience of drafting a range of international commercial agreements with particular experience of technology, distribution, franchising and agency related issues and working for global private sector companies as well as government organisations.  Example of recent experience include:  advising the Abu Dhabi government on various contractual matters, including drafting key strategic agreements;   advising   on  a  software and hardware infrastructure project for a large Islamic bank, including drafting and negotiating the contract terms;  project managing cross jurisdictional franchising arrangements and providing local law and strategic advice for large US corporations;  acting for a major US IT company on their negotiations with a body of the Dubai government;  acting for a leading FTSE 100 company on the range of their Middle East interests including drafting their standard terms and conditions and providing commercial advice on specific issues such as product liability;  drafting commercial agreements for a high profile arrangement between two well known Abu Dhabi local companies.

Geraldine advises on  employment contracts, as well as advising on a broad range of international labour law issues. Geraldine’s recent experience includes:  r eviewing and commenting on employment handbooks for international and local companies;  advising on appointments and exits at all levels, including executive levels;  providing advice on company restructuring and redundancies;  acting for senior executives in their exit discussions and contracts;  liaising on a frequent basis with Ministry of Labour and the free zone authorities on employment related matters.

Geraldine represents clients in commercial negotiations and acts as an extension of ‘in-house legal counsel’ where required.

At Eversheds Sutherland LLP, Zeid Hanania and principal associate Hani Nassef advised Gulf Capital on purchasing a majority stake in Accumed, a provider of hospital invoicing services. The pair, working with the firm's other offices, also assisted Stolt-Neilson with separating out its tanker business for a potential future sale. The firm also handles corporate and commercial work for leading technology-based businesses, with Geraldine Ahern a key contact for this work - she also handles other commercial contracts and agency agreements . Other clients include CK Hutchison, which Hanania, along with the firm's Iraqi offices, advised on purchasing a stake in the port of Basra.
