Sven is a partner at Eversheds Deutschland LLP and heads the German Private Equity Group. He focuses on private equity and M&A transactions as well as on distressed restructuring transactions (including NPL transactions). Sven has considerable experience in both cross-border and national Private Equity and M&A transactions. His clients mainly comprise of international Private Equity houses and conglomerates.

Sven's recent experience includes:

  • Advising Goldman Sachs and Rhône Capital on its acquisition of logistics group Neovia from Caterpillar and Platinum Equity.
  • Advising TriMas Corporation in its tender for Megaplast Group.
  • Advising H.I.G. Capital on the acquisition of Brand Addition Limited and Kreyer Promotion Service GmbH from 4imprint Group Plc.
  • Advising Cisco on the USD 5 billion acquisition of the NDS Group from Permira and News Corp.
  • Advising DuPont on its disposal of the Performance Coating Business to Private Equity House The Carlyle Group for a purchase price of approx. USD 5 billion.

Prior to joining in 2010, he worked for the Private Equity teams of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP in Frankfurt and Dechert LLP in Munich.

Sven is recognized as one of the country’s best corporate lawyers by Legal 500 Germany, and as one of the leading mergers and acquisitions lawyers by Chambers Europe.

Eversheds Sutherland ‘speaks the client’s language’ and offers ‘pragmatic advice’. It regularly advises German, foreign and international clients on acquisitions. For example, the group advised US data centre operator CyrusOne on the $442m acquisition of Zenium Data Centers; assisted Shell with the €340m acquisition of energy supplier and cable network operator First Utility; and acted for Finnish engine and power plant group Wärtsilä on the €210m acquisition of navigation specialist Transas. Within Christof Lamberts’ team, Christophe Samson and Sven Schweneke, who ‘adheres to time and resource constraints’, are noted. Holger Holle made partner in May 2018 and Maximilian Findeisen joined from Mütze Korsch Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH in October 2018.
