Chris is a partner in our corporate practice.

Chris has extensive experience advising on and project managing a wide range of corporate transactions including mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings and secondary fundraisings, re-organisations, joint ventures, takeovers, and private equity transactions. He has acted for public and private companies of all sizes, both national and international.

Chris' recent experience includes advising on the acquisition of two businesses for a major international chemicals group, a privately owned group on the sale of its stake in a private-equity backed business in the oil and gas sector and a publicly listed financial services company on a series of disposals and joint ventures. He has also advised on a significant number of recent fundraisings for quoted companies.

Chris is frequently invited to speak on a range of topics including transaction risk management, the IPO process and other topical matters. He regularly appears live on Bloomberg TV to discuss topical matters in the M&A market.

Chris is acknowledged by both the Chambers & Partners and Legal 500 directories as being a leading practitioner in his field. Chambers & Partners comments that "There is no song and dance with Chris Halliday: he will spot the fine details but also come up with a commercial and practical suggestion" and that he is “noted by sources for his strength in negotiation situations”.

Eversheds Sutherland (International) LLP's team has an excellent reputation acting for both issuers and NOMADs, and it is prominent in large, high-profile AIM and Main Market IPOs, secondary offerings and various other transactions. In 2017, Daniel Hall, Nicola Brookes and senior associate Annika Unsworth acted for Footasylum Plc in its £170m AIM flotation and £40m placing. They also assisted Zeus Capital (as NOMAD and broker) with the £190m AIM IPO of Strix Group Plc. Sebastian Orton and Chris Halliday more recently acted as the lead advisers to OnTheMarket Plc on its proposed £100m AIM IPO. Beyond IPO work, another highlight saw practice head Stephen Nash and legal director Mark Roe advise Investec on a secondary fundraising associated with Conviviality Plc's acquisition of the Central Convenience retail business. The firm also acts for UK investment trusts and Channel Islands-based registered investment companies. Other members of the team include Simon Masters, Alistair Cree, Steven Hacking and Alison Starr.
