Eversheds Sutherland (International) LLP 's London-based project and energy team consists of infrastructure experts such as Jackie Heeds and Howard Barrie who previously acted for clients such as National Grid and international PPP offices. On the project financing front, clients can rely on experts like Conrad Purcell , Mark Dennison and Alex Doughty . At the head of the team sit Michael Grimes who is based in Leeds and holds strong expertise in waste management, and Robert Pitcher who also heads the firm's international group.

Legal director and M&A specialist James Vernon recently joined Eversheds Sutherland (International) LLP 's oil and gas team from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP and acted for Essar in its $12bn disposal of Essar Oil. Other recent highlights include advising National Grid on the separation and subsequent sale of its gas distribution business, and Greg Hammond's advice to China National Petroleum Corporation in its acquisition of an 8% stake in a high-value onshore barrel onshore  concession project in Abu Dhabi. On the financing side Alex Doughty advised an oil company on a debt financing and subsequent restructuring of various facilities pertaining to the upgrade and expansion of an oil refinery in Eastern Europe. Robert Pitcher and Greg Hammond co-head the department. Other key clients include Shell, Lukoil, Vitol and Eni.

Eversheds Sutherland (International) LLP provides 'strong support in the specialist area of procurement and real estate', according to one client. In recent highlights, CGN Europe - a subsidiary of a Chinese state-owned utility - instructed a team led by Jason Lovell to oversee its acquisition of onshore wind assets in Ireland, and the group is currently leading the advice to National Grid on a complex business separation and subsequent sale proceedings. Cardiff-based  Iwan Walters assisted EDF with the disposal of five onshore wind assets to Greencoat UK Wind, and Birmingham's David Jones is currently intervening in the EPC contract negotiation ownership, EPC and cabling arrangements with regards to a major interconnector project between the UK and mainland Europe. The team's construction and engineering arm was recently bolstered by the arrival of Richard Streeter from CMS and the corporate offering benefited from James Vernon 's hire from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP. Michelle T Davies heads the firm's clean energy practice and co-heads the team with Robert Pitcher who spearheads the international infrastructure and energy outfit.
