Position
Partner in the litigation and arbitration group at Shearman & Sterling. He has worked in both London and New York for many of the world's leading companies and financial institutions on a broad range of litigation, arbitration and risk management issues. Although Richard has acted on disputes relating to a wide variety of industries, he has a particular expertise on issues arising out of structured finance, derivatives and other complex financial products.
Career
Trained at Allen & Overy LLP; qualified: 1999; Allen & Overy LLP (London and New York offices); joined Shearman & Sterling 2007; partner Shearman & Sterling 2010. Previously taught law for four years at the University of Oxford and in 1999 served as judicial assistant to Lord Woolf MR, then head of the civil division of the Court of Appeal. In addition to being a solicitor, he is an Attorney and Counselor at law in the State of New York.
