Mr. Meier is Co-Chair of firm’s national Tax practice group and is Chair of the Corporate group of the firm’s Chicago office.  Mr. Meier has a diverse tax practice involving all aspects of federal taxation. He regularly advises clients on the design, implementation, disposition and workout of real estate investment programs, including real estate investment funds and complex like-kind exchange programs. Mr. Meier also regularly acts as lead tax counsel in domestic and cross-border transactions for a diverse client base that includes public companies, private equity firms and entrepreneurs.  He advises early-stage businesses on tax, equity compensation and related matters, and has represented entrepreneurs in dispositions to strategic and financial acquirers.  Mr. Meier also serves as outside general tax counsel to numerous public and private companies.

Mr. Meier is recognized by Legal 500 for his tax practice, and is a frequent speaker on tax and business issues in real estate securities programs, mergers and acquisitions transactions, executive compensation, as well as tax and business issues for tax-exempt organizations.
