Dispute resolution

Within: Dispute resolution

Dominant force Rodrigo, Elías & Medrano – Abogados excels in contentious work, the result of a hefty team of 11 partners and 14 associates handling civil, commercial and public law disputes at the highest level, including international arbitrations. Although it is a ‘considerably big firm, they manage to give a personal and detailed service’ and has a ‘great pool of lawyers that coordinate every case with all partners’. Lead partners include: José Tam, a very well-known litigator and current chair of the Peruvian-Chinese Chamber of Commerce; Ramón Vidurrizaga; and the highly-praised Luis Bedoya, who is a ‘leader in his area’ of civil procedure and commercial disputes and a seasoned counsel before various international arbitration forums, including the ICC. A distinguishing feature of the firm is its established white-collar crime practice. It is led by José Reaño and Enrique Piedra, who both previously worked for the anti-corruption authorities. Another stand-out feature, according to clients, is the team’s ‘speed of attention, and multidisciplinary and practical approach’. Among an extensive caseload are multiple arbitrations against government bodies concerning concession and PPP agreements, very high-value construction arbitrations on behalf of leading domestic companies, and judicial and international arbitration proceedings against the state government on behalf of a US investment fund. Clients include DP World, Melia Hotels International, Lima Airport Partners and Hudbay Peru.
