Dispute resolution

Within: Dispute resolution

Miranda & Amado stands out for the sheer size of its practice, strength-in-depth and proven expertise in complex and high-stakes litigation and arbitration. In particular, it has standout experience in regulatory disputes in the electricity, oil and gas, mining, real estate and telecoms sectors. Clients highlight the firm’s procedural knowledge, which is ‘outstanding’, its solution-driven approach and ‘strategic thinking.’ At the helm, Mauricio Raffo is a ‘very skilled trial lawyer’ noted for his creativity and honesty; Raffo and his team are ‘doing an extraordinary job’, while Juan Luis Avendaño V is widely acknowledged as a leading litigator. The practice was boosted by the arrival of eight associates and two partners – Giovanni Priori, who has ‘extensive experience in litigation’ and ‘knows the courts’, and Santiago Carrillo – from legacy dispute resolution boutique, Priori & Carrillo Abogados, which was absorbed by the firm. It also hired regulatory litigator Willy Pedreschi from Benites, Vargas & Ugaz. The team is defending Telefónica del Perú (TdP) in the Supreme Court in claims brought by America Móvil concerning interconnection infringements, claims which were thrown out at the lower court. Boasting a leading international arbitration practice, the firm is representing APM Terminals Callao, part of Maersk Transport and Logistics, in a variety of disputes including one against the state (concerning the construction of a Peruvian port), which was recently filed at the ISCID. The matter is led by arbitration specialist José Daniel Amado. Repsol Group, Siemens and Petroperu all instruct the firm.
