The labor and employment department at Proskauer Rose LLP has a strong market reputation and is praised for 'always focusing on the clients' best interest'. Led by the experienced Elise Bloom and Neil Abramson, the team is regularly engaged by corporates, universities, sport leagues, and other law firms. Bloom, Howard Ganz and Adam Lupion represent the Major League Baseball (MLB) in an ongoing wage-and-hour putative class action brought by minor league baseball players alleging violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act and various state wage-and-hour laws before the Ninth Circuit. Lupion and Joseph Baumgarten acted for the National Hockey League (NHL) when, after more than five years of litigation, the wrongful death lawsuit filed by the parents of a former player was dismissed. Nigel Telman in Chicago, who has 'an exceptional approach and is customer focused', acts for McDonald's in various matters. The impressive client portfolio also includes UBS, the NFL and MetLife. Mark Batten in Boston settled a class action case for Harvard University in connection with the challenging of independent contractor status. Los Angeles' Anthony Oncidi is particularly active in the entertainment industry. Further recommended individuals are Bettina Plevan, Allan Bloom, Lloyd Chinn, Steven Hurd, Kathleen McKenna, John Barry, and Evandro Gigante. Chicago's key contact is Steven Pearlman and Newark's Lawrence Sandak and Joseph O’Keefe. Special counsel Jurate Schwartz in Boca Raton, Guy Brenner in Washington DC, Keisha-Ann Gray and counsel Rachel Philion are also noted. Harris Mufson made partner in November 2018. The practice lost its former head Connie Bertram to Polsinelli PC in September 2018. Named attorneys are based in New York except where indicated otherwise.

The 'exceptional' labor team at Proskauer Rose LLP has a particularly strong track record when it comes to representing US professional sports leagues in collective bargaining negotiations. It covers the full gamut of the law, with clients appreciating the group for 'providing excellent advice in every aspect of labor and employment'. The New York-based Elise Bloom and Neil Abramson jointly chair the department. The latter, who is also the head of the public sector group, negotiated a collective bargaining settlement for the City of New York with the Police Benevolent Association. Paul Salvatore and Zachary Fasman in New York and Chicago's Steven Pearlman have longstanding relations with a variety of universities, including Washington University, Yale University, and Cornell University, which they advise in labor law matters. Bernard Plum, Michael Lebowich, Joseph Baumgarten, Howard Robbins and senior counsel Steven Porzio are other key contacts in New York, while Boston's Scott Faust and Los Angeles' Mark Theodore are also names to note.
