Benites, Vargas & Ugaz

The rebranded Benites, Vargas & Ugaz is regrouping following the departure of two partners and three associates to Garrigues, including former name partner Hugo Forno and head of civil litigation Melissa Núñez. It also lost partner Willy Pedreschi to Miranda & Amado. On the upside, founding partner José Ugaz returned to the firm after completing his chair at Transparency International, Berlin. The ‘very competent’ firm is a leader in white-collar crime and compliance matters, and retains capability in commercial disputes, despite that segment being the main casualty of its lawyer departures. Luis Vargas Valdivia and Héctor Gadea Benavides are key partners and advise longstanding clients such as Telefónica and Interbank.
