Elena Baca is chair of Paul Hastings Los Angeles office and a partner in the Employment Law practice. An experienced trial lawyer, Ms. Baca has established an impressive record of defense verdicts and arbitration wins representing a wide variety of corporate clients. Her litigation practice includes a primary focus on employment related issues, such as wage and hour, employee mobility, and whistleblower issues. Her clients include financial institutions, major manufacturers, medical technology companies, and leading consumer brands.

Ms. Baca received her B.S. degree in Justice Studies with a minor in General Business from Arizona State University. She received her J.D. degree from the University of Notre Dame School of Law, where she was vice president of the Hispanic American Law Students Association, an officer of the Sports and Entertainment Association, and a research assistant and editor for two publications, The Attorney General's Lawyer and The Complex Civil Litigation Manual and Textbook.

Paul Hastings LLP has a prominent trade secrets team, handling both litigation and advisory matters, with a  strong emphasis on the financial services and technology sectors. The employee mobility and trade secrets practice is headed by Palo Alto's Bradford Newman, who recently represented Opus Bank in a trade secrets case against five former employees who left to found their own healthcare lending practice. Based is the firm's Los Angeles office, a team including Elena Baca and Jennifer Baldocchi acted for Fiber Systems International in a matter against a former executive, wherein the team obtained a permanent injunction in Texas against the former executive following his breach of strategic and budgetary trade secrets; the team went on to successfully litigate a claim in the California courts, which sought to invalidate numerous non-compete agreements. The trade secrets group also benefits from a strong specialty litigation team including Jeff Pade in Washington DC, Mark Pollack in Chicago. Victoria Cundiff chairs the global trade secrets practice from the New York office.

Clients regularly engage the team to handle class actions and high-stakes claims relating to wage and hour, discrimination and trade secrets. New York-based practice head Patrick Shea has more than 35 years of experience; together with Barbara Brown and Carson Sullivan, both in Washington DC, he continues to represent Goldman Sachs in a nationwide gender discrimination class action. The group also handles a variety of matters for Google; in a recent work highlight, Cameron Fox is defending the tech giant in a widely publicized class action against a former employee, who claims that caucasians, males and political conservatives have suffered discrimination at Google. Elena Baca successfully acted for Fiber Systems International after a former executive and his new employer, Glenair, tried to invalidate the executive’s lawful post-employment restraints as well as the ones in every FSI contract on a nationwide level; Baca, alongside Fox and Jennifer Baldocchi, was able to dismiss the claims. Other members of the practice group include Nancy Abell, who is a widely recognized employment specialist, and Paul Grossman. Zach Hutton, Paul Cane and Jeffrey Wohl are key practitioners in the San Francisco office. Further recommended individuals are Neal Mollen and Kenneth Willner in Washington DC, Kenneth Gage and Marc Bernstein in New York, Bradford Newman in Palo Alto, as well as Donna Melby and Leslie Abbott. Felicia Davis made partner in February 2018.
