Scott Hataway's Washington DC-based team at Paul Hastings LLP is a trusted destination for the full gamut of antitrust litigation. The group recently secured a dismissal for Barclays in a suit brought by a putative class of purchasers of SSA bonds alleging the client engaged in a global conspiracy to fix prices and restrain competition in the market. Associate Noah Pinegar, who recently arrived from the FTC, is part of the team representing Align Technology against 3Shape Trios, which claims Align attempted to monopolize the market for digital scanners used to order clear teeth-straighteners. Also notable are Michael Spafford and newly promoted counsel Michael Wise, who are currently defending clients in civil litigation arising from sensitive investigations in the energy and financial services sectors.

Advising on regulatory issues related to the running of natural gas-fired generation projects, wind and solar projects and emergent storage developments are some key areas of focus at Paul Hastings LLP. The environment and energy practice group is led by DC-based corporate partner William DeGrandis. Recent highlights include Peter Weiner (San Francisco) and others assisting First Solar with obtaining permits for its Cal Flats project. The team also represents the client in negotiations concerning solar regulatory policy with the DOE and Bureau of Land Management. The firm's client list also includes the likes of Georgia Transmission Corporation and Olympus Power Company. Michael Spafford (DC) is another name to note.
