Position

Partner in the litigation department. Founded Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge’s public international law practice in London and has acted for a number of governments and parastatels, particularly in the developing world. This work has included representation of states before the International Court of Justice in The Hague in boundary disputes and in international arbitration disputes. Extensive experience of asset tracing, both in the commercial/insolvency sector and currently on behalf of states.

Trained Hedleys; qualified 1976; partner Hedleys 1977-87; partner D J Freeman (previously Kendall Freeman, now Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge) 1988 to date. Recent publications: contributor ‘Recovering Stolen Assets’ (Basel Institute on Governance, ed Mark Pieth 2008); co-author ‘Corruption and Misuse of Public Office’ (OUP 2006).

  • When the deed is done

    Deeds are used in a commercial context for various reasons. One such use is to record settlement agreements between parties in dispute.
