Position
Tom is a partner in the litigation and arbitration group, and is based in the London office of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP. He has a broad practice which covers all aspects of corporate and commercial dispute resolution. Tom is recognised as having particular expertise in international dispute resolution, principally through international arbitration. His clients have included federal and state governments, state-owned entities, airlines, property investment companies, IT and telecommunications companies, oil and gas corporations, satellite operators, accountancy firms, banks (both clearing and investment) and other financial institutions. Tom’s arbitration experience includes proceedings conducted under the auspices of all the major sets of rules (including UNCITRAL, ICSID, DIAC, DIFC/LCIA, ICC, LCIA), as well as ad hoc arbitration. He has represented clients in proceedings before the English High Court (including the Commercial Court and the Technology and Construction Court), Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court, together with proceedings in the DIFC Court and the local courts of the UAE and other GCC states. He has advised in relation to all forms of alternative dispute resolution (in particular evaluative mediation, facilitative mediation and expert determination) and conducted applications for injunctive relief (including freezing injunctions, restraining injunctions, anti-suit injunctions and search orders) as well as interim remedies in aid of overseas proceedings. Tom was listed in ‘ The Lawyer Magazine’s Hot 100 List for 2008’, an independently compiled list of leading practitioners in their fields, and his career has included three years’ living and working in the Middle East.

Has written numerous articles which have appeared in publications such as ‘The New York Law Journal’, ‘Global Arbitration Review’, ‘The ICC Handbook’, and various IBA publications. Tom has also spoken at a number of conferences on both commercial and investment treaty arbitration.
