Position

Chris Harvey is a partner in Mayer Brown's London office and head of the Real Estate Investment Team. Chris has extensive experience of acting for investors, funds, property companies, banks and developers in all kinds of investment, development and finance transactions. In particular, Chris has extensive experience of acting for Asian, US and European investors investing into the UK real estate market. Chris joined Mayer Brown in 2012 and was recently nominated by Times Online as one of the top ten future stars of the City.

Mayer Brown International LLP is sought after for major investment transactions that present ‘especially complex problems, which the team fully comprehends, and is able to explain to non-lawyer clients’. Indeed, in 2017 the team was involved in both of the UK’s two largest single-asset real estate deals to-date. Chris Harvey and Jeremy Clay advised LKK Health Products Group on its £1.3bn purchase of the Walkie-Talkie building. Similarly, Clay and Caroline Humble acted for the joint venture comprising British Land and Oxford Properties in relation to the £1.2bn sale of the Cheesegrater building. In the development space, the ‘pragmatic and commercialMartin Wright is advising The Silvertown Partnership on the £3.5bn redevelopment of Silvertown in London’s Docklands. Wright also assisted DLA Piper with its head office relocation to Aldersgate Street. The team also has extensive experience of modular construction projects in the student accommodation and residential sectors. Iain Roberts was promoted to partner in 2018 and has been recognised as ‘a diligent, down-to-earth lawyer, who demonstrates control over demanding instructions’. Roberts is on a team that is advising Helical on the multi-phase redevelopment of the Bower, Old Street, which is valued at over £200m. Further, the department handles a multitude of letting work for The British Land Company, and provides ongoing letting support to Teighmore, which owns the Shard.
