Tim Burbury is a partner in King & Spalding’s Global Transactions Practice Group.

Position

Based in King & Spalding’s Abu Dhabi office, but servicing clients in the Middle East, US, Asia and Australia, Mr Burbury advises government entities, master developers, energy and utility majors, sponsors, equity investors and infrastructure funds on their energy, utilities, transport, social infrastructure and real estate development projects, BOT/BOO concessions, PPPs and project financings throughout the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific.

Member

Mr Burbury is a member of the Society of Construction Law, the International District Energy Association and a member of the IDEA’s Middle East Steering Committee.

Education

LL.M., University of Melbourne B.Com, LLB, with honors, University of Tasmania.

King & Spalding in affiliation with the Law Office of Mohammad Al-Ammar is instructed by procurement companies, government entities and development joint ventures in infrastructure, power and utilities projects. Abu Dhabi-based Tim Burbury is advising the Saudi Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs on the implementation of several PPP projects in the waste and environmental sectors. Usman Ahmad took an in-house position in 2018, and Dubai-based Leroy Levy left the firm for Squire Patton Boggs.

King & Spalding in affiliation with the Law Office of Mohammad Al-Ammar has particular strength in development projects in the infrastructure and utilities sector, and is also known for its construction litigation capabilities. Based in Abu Dhabi, Tim N. Burbury is advising Jeddah Economic Company on the procurement and development of a district cooling project at the Jeddah Economic City. Also recommended is Dubai-based Moustafa K. Said, who acted for Al Rajhi Capital in relation to the sale and leaseback of a tenanted office tower in Al Khobar and multiple warehouses in Riyadh.

At King & Spalding LLP, Tim Burbury advises the Dubai World Trade Centre on procuring district cooling for various parts of the EXPO 2020 site, and in a separate deal assisted the Jeddah Economic Company with procuring energy, water and district cooling for the Jeddah Economic City development. Robin Bayley was a new arrival from Shearman & Sterling LLP. Leroy Levy is now at Squire Patton Boggs and Usman Ahmad, previously a senior associate at the firm, is now in-house at Masdar.
