Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP has been a prominent player in securities litigation for more than 40 years and has a reputation for defending public and private companies, registered securities broker-dealers, investors, directors and officers, underwriters and other professionals. It has a deep knowledge of the accounting sector and has handled enforcement, litigation and/or investigations for all of the Big Four. William Maguire and Edward Little in New York and Washington DC-based Kevin Abikoff lead the practice. Among the partners recommended in New York are Sarah Cave, who defended the audit committee chair of a publicly traded fintech company against putative federal securities class action claims; and Neil Oxford, who assisted Maguire with the defense of a Lehman Brothers Inc trustee. In DC, William Stein represented the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in matters arising out of bank failures in the credit crisis.
