Clients praise the practice at Goodwin for its 'depth of knowledge in the securities litigation field, outstanding written work product, and excellent oral advocacy'. The firm climbs the ranking this year having won impressive dismissals in cases against pharmaceutical and medical device companies, including for Foundation Medicine and PTC Therapeutics. The key partners in those cases were Boston-based Deborah Birnbach (who is 'a truly excellent advocate who knows securities litigation backwards and forwards') and Caroline Bullerjahn, who is 'truly a pleasure to work with'. Mark Holland in New York and Michael Isenman in Washington DC scored precedent-setting wins for JP Morgan Investment Management in long-running excessive fees litigation. In New York, Marshall Fishman, who led market manipulation matters for Wall Street banks, and Brian Pastuszenski, who acted for underwriters in matters arising from NovoCure's IPO, are also recommended. Douglas Flaum joined the firm in 2019 from Paul Hastings LLP.
