Corporate partner. Concentrates on commodities, futures and derivatives. Practice includes providing advice in connection with product development, structuring funds and other investment vehicles, establishment of electronic trading facilities and clearing solutions for swaps and derivatives, and compliance, investigations and enforcement matters relating to futures, swaps and derivatives.


Mr. Mitchell joined Fried Frank in 2006 as partner. He was previously a partner at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, where he was a partner in the Capital Markets Department. He joined Cadwalader in 1983 from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Mr. Mitchell is the Director of the Futures Industry Association and serves on the Board of Editors of the Futures & Derivatives Law Report.


Mr. Mitchell is a member of both the New York City Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association.


Mr. Mitchell received his LLM from New York University School of Law in 1980, and his JD, magna cum laude, from New York Law School in 1979, where he was a member of the Law Review. He received his BA, summa cum laude, from City College of New York in 1976, Phi Beta Kappa.
