Partner, Chair of Antitrust Department. Mr. Nigro's practice is focused on investigations and litigation under federal and state antitrust and unfair competition laws, including criminal grand jury proceedings.  He frequently handles matters relating to the clearance of mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures, private equity transactions, unfair and deceptive trade practices and advertising.  He also specializes in antitrust compliance counseling and training.  Mr. Nigro regularly appears before the Federal Trade Commission, the Department of Justice, state attorneys general, and Congressional offices. Frequent speaker and author on antitrust and competition topics.


Joined as partner in 1999; former Deputy Director, FTC Bureau of Competition; Board of Editors of Antitrust Report.


Mr. Nigro has served in key leadership positions in the Section of Antitrust Law for over twenty years, including his current role as the Vice Chair of the American Bar Association’s Section of Antitrust Law. He also has served as representative in the ABA House of Delegates, as an Officer and on the Council of the Section, as Chair of the Section's Communications Industry Committee, on the Competition and Public Policy Task Force, on the Federal Trade Commission Task Force, as Chair of the Committee Operations Committee, on the Skills Training and Programming Task Force, on the Committee Restructuring Task Force, and in various other roles within the Section. Previously, he served on the Antitrust Steering Committee of the DC Bar Association. Mr. Nigro has also served on various committees for the George Washington University Law Alumni Association, Higher Achievement, St. Alban’s School, and Bishop Ireton High School Capital Campaign.


Mr. Nigro received his JD from George Washington University Law School in 1986 and his BA from Georgetown University in 1982.
