Position

Alejandro Fiuza, Chair of the Firm's Latin America Practice Group, is a partner in the Boston and New York offices. Alejandro's practice involves corporate, mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital transactions (with special focus on multi-jurisdictional transactional work), corporate restructurings, cross-border bankruptcy and insolvency, corporate finance, antitrust and international trade. He represents public and private multinationals, private equity and venture capital funds, GPs and investors, non-profit corporations and global entrepreneurs, in a multiple array of transactions and matters (including mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures in the US, Latin America and Europe). Alejandro has over 24 years of experience in assisting clients in cross-border transactional work, with a special emphasis in Latin America. His practice has been recognized by Chambers Latin America 2014 in Corporate/M&A region-wide and for Argentina and by Chambers Global in Corporate/M&A and International Trade. Prior to joining Brown Rudnick, Alejandro was a partner at K&L Gates LLP’s Boston and New York offices where he was one of the coordinators of the firm's Latin American practice until he joined Brown Rudnick LLP. From 1998 through 2011, Alejandro was a partner at Marval O’Farrell & Mairal, the largest firm in Argentina, where he co-chaired its Private Equity and Venture Capital and International Trade Practice Groups. Before July 1998, Alejandro worked at McDermott, Will & Emery (Boston and Chicago offices), Abeledo Gottheil Abogados, and Le Pera & Lessa Abogados (Buenos Aires, Argentina). Alejandro has been a professor of Commercial Law and International Business Transactions at the Universidad de Buenos Aires and a teaching assistant of Torts (Obligaciones). He was also a professor of Business Organizations, Bankruptcy and Economic Analysis of Corporate Law at Universidad Torcuato Di Tella and of International Business Transactions at Southwestern University School of Law. Alejandro has been recognized by Chambers Global in the areas of Corporate/M&A (Argentina/Experts Based Abroad and USA/Foreign Experts) and International Trade (Foreign Experts).

Brown Rudnick LLP has an impressive Latin America-focused senior echelon with Alejandro Fiuza and Adolfo Garcia having more than 27 and 40-years’ experience respectively. Fiuza is dual-qualified in the US and Argentina, having spent 13 years as a partner and co-chair of the private equity practice at leading Argentine firm Marval, O'Farrell & Mairal. Garcia leads Brown Rudnick LLP’s Cuban initiative. The Latin America team, which operates right across the region, handles a healthy mix of M&A, private equity investments and corporate restructuring engagements. Its clients include Endeavor Global, Staples, Tempur-Sealy, Seaboard Corporation, CBS Television, TripAdvisor, Oyster Technologies and Audax Management. Recent mandates include advising a US-based client on the corporate restructuring of – and a potential transaction involving – interests in a Latin American agribusiness company; and the team continues to advise Asociación Argentina de Capital Privado (ARCAP) following its launch in 2016, which followed 12 years of legal work, structuring and negotiations by Fiuza and the firm; ARCAP is expected to promote local and international private equity, venture capital and seed capital investment in Argentina by funds and companies.
