Bracewell (UK) LLP has one of the leading practices in London for the financing of upstream oil and gas companies, and it has been involved in the lion's share of these transactions in the EMEA region during the last year. These included a $1.75bn development financing for Delek Drilling to develop the Leviathan gas field, offshore Israel, which is one of the largest discoveries in the Mediterranean. The firm also acted for Neptune Energy Group in the debt financing of a $3.9bn acquisition of a stake in ENGIE E&P International, which was one of the largest private equity-backed upstream acquisitions in the market. Key partners Jason Fox and Olivia Caddy led those transactions. Fox also advised Shoreline Natural Resources on a $534m financing led by Vitol that was secured against assets in Nigeria. Caddy assisted underwriter Sumitomo Mitsui Corporation Europe with a $120m reserve-based facility for Trident Energy. The practice also has in-depth knowledge of sponsor-side power projects in Africa and the Middle East, financed through development finance institutions, export credit agencies and both international and local commercial banks. Senior associate Eimear Murphy is recommended for advice to borrowers and lenders in upstream oil and gas financings.
