Mirco Hilgers advises on legal matters related to Chilean mining law and focuses his practice on foreign investments and mining, assisting in the incorporation, maintenance and development of diverse foreign companies of the mining industry and their Chilean subsidiaries. He also has extensive experience and deep local knowledge in matters related to natural resources, energy and infrastructure; leading the environmental group of the Firm in the Santiago office.

Mr. Hilgers is frequently nominated as one of the Chilean ‘Leading Lawyers’ by the most renowned rankings. Frequent columnist on mining, energy and environmental legal issues in ‘Diario Financiero’, ‘Diario Estrategia’, ‘Diario El Pulso’, ‘Revista Minería Chilena’ and ‘Qué Pasa Minería’.
Author of the book "Chilean Mining Law for the Prospector, Miner and Investor" published in October 2014. He is currently professor of Chilean mining law at the Universidad Alberto Hurtado.

  • The New Turkish Code of Obligations: Important Changes for Leases of Residential & Business Premises

    For decades, the primary Turkish laws governing leases of residential and business premises have been the Law on Leasing Real Property dated May 27, 1955 (the “Lease Law”) and the Turkish Code of Obligations No. 818 dated April 22, 1926 (the “Obligations Code”). Both of these laws, however, will be repealed and replaced with the new Turkish Code of Obligations No. 6098 dated January 11, 2011 (the “New Obligations Code”), which will enter into force on July 7, 2012.
