Rodrigo Quimbo is a partner in Quisumbing Torres' Dispute Resolution Practice Group. He heads the Firm's Compliance Focus Group and the Aviation, Aerospace & Defense Industry Group. He is also a member of the Competition Focus Group.

Position

Mr. Quimbo has 26 years of experience representing clients in litigation, dispute resolution, and arbitration. He is well-regarded in transportation and aviation work. Under his leadership, Quisumbing Torres earned recognition as a Tier 1 firm for Aviation in Legal 500 Asia Pacific from 2007 to 2016. Mr. Quimbo also teaches Transportation and Public Utility law at the University of the Philippines College of Law. He is a well-regarded speaker, having spoken in various legal fora and Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) sessions. Mr. Quimbo's practice includes administrative and civil litigation, alternative dispute resolution, transportation, public utilities, and aviation. He regularly advises clients on compliance and government reporting requirements, antitrust and competition regulatory requirements, and review of confidentiality and restrictive agreements. Representative Work: 1.) Represent a global online technology platform before the Civil Aeronautics Board in relation to the accreditation of the client as one of Land Transportation Franchising & Regulatory Board's Transportation Network Companies. 2.) Represent a US-based leading airline company in handling claims filed against them and assist in due diligence in commercial litigation matters. 3.) Represent US-based aviation insurance providers in handling disputes against insured carriers.

  • The New Turkish Code of Obligations: Important Changes for Leases of Residential & Business Premises

    For decades, the primary Turkish laws governing leases of residential and business premises have been the Law on Leasing Real Property dated May 27, 1955 (the “Lease Law”) and the Turkish Code of Obligations No. 818 dated April 22, 1926 (the “Obligations Code”). Both of these laws, however, will be repealed and replaced with the new Turkish Code of Obligations No. 6098 dated January 11, 2011 (the “New Obligations Code”), which will enter into force on July 7, 2012.
