Managing Partner. Mr. Hrodek specializes in Dispute Resolution (including Competition Litigation), Restructuring and Insolvency.


Mr. Hrodek heads the Dispute Resolution and Restructuring & Insolvency departments of the Prague office and has been ranked by leading legal directories in the first tier of Czech dispute lawyers for the past several years. He specialises in dispute resolution, commercial litigation and domestic / international arbitration, in particular relating to banking & finance, mergers & acquisitions and private equity deals, and management dismissals and discrimination claims.

Mr. Hrodek represents various creditors in insolvency proceedings, mostly banks and industrial creditors, and handles related litigations. He has represented Czech and international companies in disputes relating to share transactions, high volume bankruptcies and shareholders issues. The total value of disputes he has advised on recently reached CZK 250 billion.

Mr. Hrodek joined Baker McKenzie in 1998. He was appointed as Partner in the Firm in 2003 and the Managing Partner of the Prague office in 2017. Mr. Hrodek is also active as an arbitrator with the Arbitration Court attached to the Economic and Agrarian Chamber of the Czech Republic. He was registered as an attorney at the Czech Bar Association in 1998.


Mr. Hrodek graduated at the Law Faculty of Charles University in Prague in 1994 after studying at the Moscow Institute of International Relations.

  • The New Turkish Code of Obligations: Important Changes for Leases of Residential & Business Premises

    For decades, the primary Turkish laws governing leases of residential and business premises have been the Law on Leasing Real Property dated May 27, 1955 (the “Lease Law”) and the Turkish Code of Obligations No. 818 dated April 22, 1926 (the “Obligations Code”). Both of these laws, however, will be repealed and replaced with the new Turkish Code of Obligations No. 6098 dated January 11, 2011 (the “New Obligations Code”), which will enter into force on July 7, 2012.
