Oleksiy is a senior associate at Baker McKenzie Kyiv specializing in intellectual property, information technology, encryption, personal data protection, e-commerce and advertising law.

Oleksiy Stolyarenko heads and coordinates the Firm’s IT\TMT Industry Group in the Kyiv office.

With more than a decade of experience, he advises both multinationals and Ukrainian companies on compliance with data privacy, cybersecurity and consumer protection regulations, complex technology and intellectual property issues related to technology transactions, start-ups, and the launch of innovative services and products in Ukraine.


Before joining Baker McKenzie in 2008, Oleksiy worked in the State Department of Intellectual Property.


In addition to his native Ukrainian, Oleksiy is fluent in English and Russian.


Oleksiy is a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA), European Business Association (EBA), American Chamber of Commerce, New York bar, Ukrainian patent and trademark attorney bar.


Oleksiy received the specialist degree in law from the National Law Academy of Ukraine named by Yaroslav Mydriy in 2005 Kharkiv, Ukraine and master degree in Intellectual Property, State Institute of Intellectual Property, Kyiv, Ukraine in 2008 and is admitted to practice law in Ukraine. He also received LL.M. degree from Paul M. Hebert Law Center, Louisiana State University (2009-2010) is admitted to practice law in the State of New York since 2011. Recipient of Edmund S. Muskie Graduate Fellowship, Final GPA - 3.185

  • The New Turkish Code of Obligations: Important Changes for Leases of Residential & Business Premises

    For decades, the primary Turkish laws governing leases of residential and business premises have been the Law on Leasing Real Property dated May 27, 1955 (the “Lease Law”) and the Turkish Code of Obligations No. 818 dated April 22, 1926 (the “Obligations Code”). Both of these laws, however, will be repealed and replaced with the new Turkish Code of Obligations No. 6098 dated January 11, 2011 (the “New Obligations Code”), which will enter into force on July 7, 2012.

    A new blocking system for tax invoices, along with a new procedure for suspending the registration of tax invoices in the Unified Register of Tax Invoices, has been in operation since March 2018 in Ukraine.
