Position

Alexander Monin is a corporate/commercial partner at the Moscow office of Baker & McKenzie. Mr. Monin has advised and represented more than 50 companies on the Forbes Global 2000 list on various matters relating to foreign investment in Russia. His practice is focused on (i) private M&A, (ii) commercial agreements and contracts, (iii) private company corporate counseling and governance, (iv) anti-corruption, and (v) distribution, agency and franchising.

In addition to his native Russian, Mr. Monin speaks fluent English.

Education

Mr. Monin earned his Law Degree at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO). He was admitted to practice law in Russia in 1997.

  • The New Turkish Code of Obligations: Important Changes for Leases of Residential & Business Premises

    For decades, the primary Turkish laws governing leases of residential and business premises have been the Law on Leasing Real Property dated May 27, 1955 (the “Lease Law”) and the Turkish Code of Obligations No. 818 dated April 22, 1926 (the “Obligations Code”). Both of these laws, however, will be repealed and replaced with the new Turkish Code of Obligations No. 6098 dated January 11, 2011 (the “New Obligations Code”), which will enter into force on July 7, 2012.
