Javier Menor is a member of the Firm’s Corporate and Competition Practice Group in Barcelona. He came to Baker & McKenzie in 2015 from prestigious consulting and legal advice companies where he was the partner in charge of the legal area in Catalonia, Aragón, and the Balearic Islands; he was also a member of the Worldwide Executive Committee and internationally in charge of the corporate mergers and acquisitions area of one of that companies.

Baker McKenzie handles a mix of real estate, commercial, IP and employment advice for its retail clients. It recently advised Esprit in a multimillion-euro leaseholders’ dispute with real estate company Centrum. The firm also advised Tous on the multimillion-euro sale of a 25% stake in its holding company to Partners Group. Key individuals include Javier Menor for M&A, Esteban Raventós for tax, Cristina Duch for IP and Mireia Sabaté for employment.

  • The New Turkish Code of Obligations: Important Changes for Leases of Residential & Business Premises

    For decades, the primary Turkish laws governing leases of residential and business premises have been the Law on Leasing Real Property dated May 27, 1955 (the “Lease Law”) and the Turkish Code of Obligations No. 818 dated April 22, 1926 (the “Obligations Code”). Both of these laws, however, will be repealed and replaced with the new Turkish Code of Obligations No. 6098 dated January 11, 2011 (the “New Obligations Code”), which will enter into force on July 7, 2012.
