Partner and head of pensions department specialising in all aspects of pensions work, advising both companies and trustees in connection with the trust law aspects of pension schemes, regulatory matters, deficits and surpluses, sales and purchases, scheme mergers, the preparation of documentation and investment arrangements; also advises in connection with independent trusteeship and litigation matters relating to pension funds. Cases include application to European Court of Justice in sex discrimination case of Neath v Hugh Steeper Limited; negotiating large-scale buy-outs for Alliance Unichem, Merchant Navy and Metlife; advising on National Bus, Drexel, Times Pension Fund, Post Office Insurance Society, Denny v Yeldon, South West Trains, AMP, Co-operative Insurance Society; IMG and Merchant Nacy cases; pensions aspects of many substantial sales and purchases; acts for clients such as Alliance Boots, Royal Mail, Serco, Sony and Merchant Navy.

  • New rules due on assessment of workplace working conditions

    Continuing our practice of regularly updating our clients on changes in the Russian legislation, in this legal alert we would like to inform you that as of September 1, 2011, the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation will introduce a new procedure for assessing working conditions in workplaces. 1 [1] Results of workplace assessments with respect to the working conditions conducted before September 1, 2011 (in accordance with the procedure currently in effect 2 [2]) will remain valid up until the next regular assessment.
