Continuing our practice of regularly updating our clients on changes in the Russian legislation, in this legal alert we would like to inform you that as of September 1, 2011, the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation will introduce a new procedure for assessing working conditions in workplaces. 1 [1] Results of workplace assessments with respect to the working conditions conducted before September 1, 2011 (in accordance with the procedure currently in effect 2 [2]) will remain valid up until the next regular assessment.

On 13 January 2012 the Law of Ukraine "On Amending the Tax Code of Ukraine Regarding Review of Certain Tax and Duties Rates"(the "Amendments") became effective. The Amendments change the procedure for calculation of adjustment index used for royalties' calculation.

On 17 November 2011, the Parliament of Ukraine adopted amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On Production Sharing Agreements" (the "Law") aiming at improvement of the mechanism for entering into Production Sharing Agreements and establishment of additional grounds and opportunities for the development of exploration and production companies fully or partially owned by the state. The Law is awaiting the President's approval.

On 21 October 2011 the Parliament of Ukraine amended the Law of Ukraine "On Production Sharing Agreements" as to the list of subsoil resources plots. The amendment was signed by the President on 11 November 2011 and shall come into force upon official publication.
