Position

William Lavery is a partner in the Antitrust and Competition Practice of Baker Botts’ Washington, D.C. office. Mr. Lavery has handled a number of antitrust and other complex commercial litigation matters, criminal antitrust investigations and mergers. Mr. Lavery has represented clients in a wide range of industries including computer hardware, foundry, energy, transportation and agriculture, in cases involving alleged claims of price-fixing, monopolization, Robinson-Patman violations, sham litigation and other business torts.

Mr. Lavery has handled a number of antitrust and other complex commercial litigation matters, criminal antitrust investigations and mergers. Mr. Lavery has represented clients in a wide range of industries including computer hardware, foundry, energy, telecommunications, chemicals, transportation and agriculture, in cases involving alleged claims of price-fixing, monopolization, Robinson-Patman violations, sham litigation and other business torts. Mr. Lavery currently serves as the Chair of the Antitrust Law Committee for the ABA Young Lawyers Division.

Baker Botts L.L.P.’s team in the US is jointly led by John Taladay and Stephen Weissman. It covers the full spectrum of behavioral issues which give rise to antitrust litigation, including monopolization, price-fixing, market allocation and patent misuse. Its wide-ranging workload includes civil cartel cases brought by the FTC, class actions involving direct and indirect purchasers, and opt-out litigation. Taladay, Joseph Ostoyich, Erik Koons and William Lavery are representing Eaton Corporation in a series of direct and indirect purchaser class actions over an alleged conspiracy with four truck makers to monopolize the heavy-duty truck transmissions market. James Kress, Stuart Plunkett in San Francisco, Paul Cuomo, and Van Beckwith in Dallas are other key figures. Michael Perry joined from the FTC.
