Arnold & Porter handles a number of major criminal healthcare matters, with particular expertise in FCPA and other anti-bribery issues. New York’s Michael Rogoff and Manvin Mayell are defending Novartis Pharmaceuticals in major FCA litigation brought by the DOJ concerning allegations of kickbacks paid to physicians. Washington DC’s ‘top-notchJohn Nassikas is defending Boston Scientific in a complex fraud case filed by Abramge alleging the client bribed Brazilian physicians to use its products. The group, led by Kirk Ogrosky, is also acting as co-counsel alongside Kobre & Kim for Salomon Melgen, MD, in a high-profile public corruption case involving Senator Robert Menendez. It also continues to act for current and former officers of JP Morgan and Standard and Poor’s in connection with state and federal investigations into various structured financial products and vehicles. In May 2018, Craig Margolis joined the firm’s Washington DC office from Vinson & Elkins LLP.

    In May 2014, it will be ten years since Regulation No 1/2003 entered into force. When the legislator of the European Union adopted this Regulation on 16 December 2002, its main objective was to decentralise the enforcement of the two main provisions of EU antitrust law, Articles 81 and 82 of the Treaty establishing the European Community (now Articles 101 and 102 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU)).
